To be able to teach and learn, it is important to have some teaching and learning skills, especially 21st century skills, since they improve the quality of education. Since the beginning of the 2000s, 21st century teaching and learning skills have become vital in the education community. Without 21st century skills, neither teachers nor students can fulfill their duties as members of the education system. So, what are 21st century skills?
21st century skills include the four Cs (Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication). Firstly, critical thinking is about generating questions, making connections, and brainstorming. Secondly, creativity is coming up with new and unique ideas. Finally, in fact, collaboration and communication cannot stand without each other, since we cannot collaborate without communication, which means they trigger each other.
With the help of these four skills, students can work with each other, think critically, and create new ideas and products. Additionally, if teachers do not have these skills, students cannot obtain them because teachers are their role models and all students around the world learn from their teachers. Also, a person cannot teach something that is not in his or her repertoire or something that he or she does not know.
